Pedestrian Seriously Injured After Being Hit By SUV On Route 9

A 61-year-old was hospitalized over the weekend after he was struck by an SUV on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie, near Marist College, police said.

Officers from the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department received a report shortly before 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, of a Honda CR-V that struck a pedestrian on North Road, near the college. Police said that a 63-year-old Hyde Park man struck a Poughkeepsie resident who was on the roadway, not in a crosswalk.

Police said that the pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The driver was not injured in the crash.

Following the crash, the northbound lanes of the roadway were temporarily closed for several hours as police investigated the crash and scene.
